The Material Library

An overview of the Instant Reno Material Library

Michael Rodriguez

Explore thousands of real products side-by-side—flooring, tiles, paint, fixtures, finishes. See exactly what you're buying before you commit.

Choosing materials is one of the most time-consuming parts of a renovation. You have to visit showrooms, check websites, compare prices across suppliers, and try to remember how that gorgeous tile looked once you drove home. The Materials Library puts all of that in one searchable, filterable database—and lets you see how materials look in your actual space before you buy.

Browse and compare

  • Smart filtering: Filter by category (flooring, tiles, paint, lighting), colour, material type (ceramic, porcelain, wood, laminate), price range, and style (modern, traditional, industrial). Whether you want "grey ceramic tiles under $50/m²" or "warm white paint for a small bedroom," you'll find options in seconds.

  • Full product details: See exact product names, specifications, and where to buy them. You get the manufacturer, model number, finish type, durability rating, and price—everything you need to make an informed choice.

  • Visualise in your space: View materials in your actual design—see how a tile pattern or paint shade looks in your space before you buy. Instead of imagining how that blue would look on all four walls, you see it rendered in your actual room with your actual lighting. This eliminates the biggest source of buyer's remorse in renovations.

  • Compare side-by-side: Put two tiles, paint colours, or fixtures next to each other in your design to see which you prefer. The comparison happens in real time in your room, not in a showroom or on a website where the lighting is completely different.

  • Stock and availability: See whether a product is in stock, how long delivery takes, and whether it's available in your region. No more falling in love with something only to find out it ships from overseas and takes 12 weeks.

Collections and mood boards

Save materials you love into collections. You might have a "Kitchen Finishes" collection, a "Luxury Bathroom" wishlist, or a "Budget-Friendly Options" comparison. Share them with your designer, contractor, or just use them later to refresh your memory about what you chose. Collections also help you stay consistent—if you put "natural oak" in your finishes collection for the kitchen, you can apply that same wood tone to other areas and know they'll coordinate.

Real workflow

You're choosing floor finishes for your living room. You filter the library for: wooden-look tiles, mid-tone colours, under $80/m², and "Australian sellers." You get 40 results. You open three that look promising and add them to your "Living Room Flooring" collection. Then you visualise each one in your actual living room using your design. One looks too dark in the afternoon light, one is perfect, and one clashes with your furniture. You narrow it down to your top choice, check availability (in stock, 5-7 day delivery), note the exact product code, and add it to your Material Tracker. Your contractor now sees the exact tile you want and can order it with confidence.
